Update

And I thought Italy was hot. Italy has NOTHING on Greece :-)

We just arrived here in Piraeus, Greece early this morning and already I am packing for the islands. On my way to Santorini tomorrow morning...phew. We visited the Acropolis today and it was simply amazing. Difficult to put into words really. And 100+ degrees the entire time. I must say that even though all of these ports are simply amazing, traveling in the summer heat is so exhausting and draining. Maybe it's my thin blood and delicate skin I have acquired the past several years in San Diego :-)

Which brings me to my first update. We are at the port in Piraeus just Southwest of Athens. Our port terminal has free wi-fi which means a much larger bandwidth and greater ability to upload photos. Therefore I am sitting there now attempting to post a bunch of photos on Facebook. I have created a box on the right hand side of the page to supply links to the photo albums. Bear with me while I try and figure this out. If you do not find them there, check each post for a link to the album.

Secondly, in response to a few inquiries about ship life, I will be posting a separate piece on "a day in the life" aboard the MV Explorer, my home.  Look for that in the near future.

Finally, I am adding a page which I will try and update with our "special questions/quotations of the day". This will be a list of things overheard being said by voyagers that are...special. You will see what I mean!

I will be returning to Piraeus the day before we depart for Turkey. I will upload photos of Greece at that time and update you on my island adventures.  Things are going quite well here in this part of the world. I hope the same is true for all of you.

Stay well and keep in touch,
~Emily

  1. Em I better hear all about how you were ANONYMOUSLY FIERCE! Sounds like the adventure has been holding your expectations (minus all the desert like heat temps). Be safe. Keep keep'n the dream alive!!
